Canon 2
Overview
This commandment regulates what may be brought to the altar and how other fruits are to be distributed among the clergy.
1Commandment 2. Concerning what may be brought to the altar.
2If a bishop or presbyter brings to God’s altar anything foreign, apart from what we commanded to be brought in and offered as an offering, or brings in honey, or milk, or a bird, or any other animal apart from what our Lord commanded, let him be deposed.
3Nothing may be brought to the altar except ears of grain and fruit clusters in their season, pure oil for the lamp, and incense at the time of the pure offering.
4The remaining fruits shall be sent to the house and shall be for the bishop and the presbyters, but they shall not be brought to the altar. The bishops and presbyters shall share them with the other ordained ministers as well.
