Canon 1
Overview
This canon directs prayer toward the east in expectation of the Lord’s coming from the east.
1Commandment. Their prayer is to be directed toward the east. For our Lord Jesus Christ said that he himself, the Lord God, will come from heaven in the latter days like lightning that comes from the east and appears as far as the west. Therefore, we know that his coming will be from the east.
