Chapter 70

First Book of Dominos · Section 70 of 74 · 2 passages

1If a poor person dies, let those responsible for providing for each person provide his clothing. If a stranger dies and has no place to be buried, let those who have a place give one. If the Church has a place, let it provide it. If he has no covering, let the Church likewise provide one. If he has no grave clothes, let him be shrouded.

2If a man is found to have possessions and does not leave them to the Church, let them be kept for a time. After a year, the Church must not appropriate them, but they are to be given to the poor for his soul. If he desires to be embalmed, let the deacons provide for it, with a presbyter standing by. If the Church has a graveyard and someone lives there and guards it, let the bishop provide for him from the Church so that he is not a burden to those who come there.
