The Corinthian Appeal

2… prayed that a messenger be sent to Philippi. For the Corinthians were deeply troubled about Paul, fearing that he would depart from the world before it was time. Certain men had come to Corinth, Simon and Cleobius, saying, “There is no resurrection of the flesh, but only of the spirit; the human body is not God’s creation; God did not create the world; God does not know the world; Jesus Christ was not crucified, but it was only an appearance; and he was not born of Mary or of the seed of David.” In short, they had taught many things in Corinth, deceiving many other people and themselves. Therefore, when the Corinthians heard that Paul was at Philippi, they sent a letter to Paul in Macedonia by the deacons Threptus and Eutychus. The letter was as follows.
