Canon 12

1A commandment concerning the reading of the Scriptures.

2Let the Scriptures be read from the elevated seat in the church: from the Law, from the books of all the prophets, and from the account of the apostles. After this, let them read from the Gospel, for it is the completion of all the Scriptures.

3Let all the people listen while standing on their feet, for it is the message of life and salvation and grace for all people. It is fitting that they exalt it above all the Scriptures, and the people shall pray to God while it is being read.
