Ethiopian Broader Canon

Canon 22

Sirate Tsion · Section 23 of 32 · 5 passages

1Command concerning the order of prayer.

2Let them multiply prayer by night and by day with the Psalms of David, and let them be mindful of prayer through them. For he said, “I will bless the Lord at every time, and his praise shall always be in my mouth.”

3Again he said, “Your word is sweeter to my throat than honey, and sugar is sweet to my mouth.”

4For this reason, reading in a sweet melody is fitting for magnifying God and praising him, for giving thanks for his grace, for petitioning him, and for extolling him in everything for the sake of his awesome and holy name.

5Again, it speaks of devotion, praise, thanksgiving, confession of sins, and petitions fitting for the faithful. They shall pray through it when affliction, sorrow, and distress overtake them, and yamassəṭu ʾəmansut.
