Chapter 15

1After Jesus had spoken these words, Peter, John, Thomas, Matthew, Andrew, Matthias, and the others said, “O our Lord, you have truly spoken to us now words of warning and truth. Although we are not worthy, you have bestowed many things upon us and have also granted those of future generations who are worthy to know your words and flee from the snares of the Evil One. But, O our Lord, we beseech you: make your perfect light shine upon us and upon those foreordained and set apart to be yours. Because we have asked you many times, we pray that you teach us what sort of person should stand at the head of the Church and by what rule he should raise up and order the Church. For it is urgent that, when we are sent to the nations to preach the salvation that comes from you, we should know how the mysteries of the Church ought to be arranged. Therefore, from your own mouth, O our Savior and Perfecter, we desire to learn fully how the Chief of the holy things ought to please you, and likewise all those who minister in your Church.”
