Chapter 32

First Book of Dominos · Section 32 of 74 · 14 passages

Let them recite the daily hymn of praise in the Church, each at his own time, as follows:

DAILY HYMN OF PRAISE

The priest: The grace of our Lord be with you all.

The people: And with your spirit.

The priest: Praise the Lord.

The people: It is fitting and right.

The priest: We, Your servants and Your people, praise You, Father of incorruptibility, Deliverer of our souls, Strengthener of our thoughts, and Guardian of our hearts. You have illuminated our hearts and ended the darkness of our understanding through the knowledge that is in You. Through the cross of Your Only-Begotten Son, You restored to incorruptibility the old man who had been handed over to corruption. You ended error and, by Your commandments, made man pass into immortality. You sought what was lost.

The people: We praise You, and the rest.

The priest: We praise You, Lord, whom the unceasing doxologies of the archangels continually praise with song, along with the hymns of the Glories and the chants of the Dominions. We praise You, Lord, who sent Your Thought, Your Word, Your Wisdom, and Your Power: Him who is from of old and was with You before the ages, the uncreated Word of the Uncreated One. At the end of the ages He appeared incarnate for the salvation of created humanity—Your beloved Son, Jesus Christ, who freed us from the yoke of slavery. Therefore, as is our custom, we, Your servants and Your people, praise You.

The people: We praise You, and the rest.

The priest: From our hearts we sing a threefold hymn of praise to You, life-giving Lord. You visit the souls of the poor and do not neglect the spirits of the afflicted. You are the Supporter of the persecuted, the Helper of those tossed upon the sea, the Deliverer of those who are buffeted, the Provider for the hungry, the Avenger of those who are wronged, the Lover of the faithful, the Companion of the saints, the Habitation of the pure, the Dwelling Place of those who call upon You in truth, the Protector of widows, and the Liberator of orphans. You give right government to Your Church and have established in it love-feasts, ministries, the reception of the faithful, participation in the Spirit, gifts of grace, and powers. We praise You. We never cease to form within our hearts the image of Your kingdom, for Your sake and for the sake of Your beloved Son, Jesus Christ, through whom praise and power belong to You with the Holy Spirit, forever and ever. Amen.

And let the people say: Amen.

If anyone speaks prophetic words, let him speak them; he has a reward. At midnight, let the sons of the priestly ministry and those among the people who are more perfect offer praise by themselves, for at that hour our Lord also arose and praised His Father.

… of the Lord walks as He walked in this world, so that where He is, there he also may be.
