Chapter 42
First Book of Dominos · Section 42 of 74 · 6 passages
1After she is appointed thus, let her not be anxious about anything, but let her remain solitary and have leisure for devout supplications. For solitude is the foundation of holiness and life for such a widow, since she has loved no other but the God of gods, the Father who is in heaven.
2At fixed times let her offer praise by herself, at night and at dawn. If she is menstruating, let her remain in the temple and not approach the altar—not because she is polluted, but so that the altar may be honored. Afterward, when she has fasted and bathed, let her be diligent at the altar.
3During the days of Pentecost, let her not fast. At the feast of Pascha, let her give what she has to the poor, bathe, and then pray.
4When she gives thanks or praise, if she has like-minded virgin friends, it is good for them to pray with her for the sake of the Amen. If not, let her pray alone, both in the church and in the house, especially at midnight.
5The times when she should offer praise are the Sabbath, the first day of the week, Pascha, Epiphany, and Pentecost. At other times let her give thanks meekly with psalms, hymns of praise, and meditations; and thus let her labor.
6For the Most High will sanctify them and forgive all their sins, those formerly written against them, and their error. My heavenly Father will strengthen them and enlighten their faces like the faces of my sanctuaries. They will shine in my glory on the day of recompense.
