Ethiopian Broader Canon

Chapter 58

First Book of Dominos · Section 58 of 74 · 4 passages

1If anyone receives a service to carry to a widow, a poor woman, or anyone constantly engaged in the work of the church, let him give it that same day. If not, let him add something to it from his own property on the next day and then give it, for the bread of the poor has been held back in his possession.

2In the last week of Pascha, on the fifth day of the week, let the bread and the cup be offered. He who suffered for what he offered is the one who draws near.

3Let the lamp be offered in the temple by the deacon, who says, “The grace of our Lord be with you all.” Let all the people say, “And with your spirit.” Let the little children sing spiritual psalms and hymns of praise by the light of the lamp.

4Let all the people respond, “Hallelujah,” to the psalm and to the chant sung together, with one accord and with harmonious voices. Let no one kneel until the speaker has finished. Let the same be observed when a reading is read or a word of doctrine is spoken. If the name of the Lord is spoken, and the rest, as has already been sufficiently made known, let no one bow after creeping in.
