Chapter 17

1But Jesus also said to us: Because you have asked me about ecclesiastical rule, I deliver and make known to you how you ought to order and command him who stands at the head of the Church, and how to keep the perfect, just, and most excellent rule in which my Father, who sent me, is well pleased.

2Truly I tell you, whoever knows the power of this commandment and this testament, and acts according to what is written in it, shall be made like the angels who praise my Father and shall be holy to God. But my Father is mediator, together with all his host, that if their sins are as countless as the sand of the seashore, and any of them understands these words and obeys them, those sins shall be forgiven, and that person shall live in me.
