Second Book of Dominos · Section 39 of 51 · 1 passages
1We said to him, “Lord, is this your purpose, that you leave us to come upon them?” He answered us, “What kind of judgment shall it be, righteous or unrighteous?” We said to him, “Lord, on that day they will say to you, ‘You have not distinguished between righteousness and unrighteousness, between light and darkness, and between evil and good.’” Then he said, “I will answer them: ‘Adam was given power to choose one of the two. He chose the light and laid his hand upon it, but he left the darkness behind him and cast it away. Therefore, everyone has power to believe in the light, which is life and is the Father who sent me. Everyone who believes and does the works of light shall live in them. But if anyone confesses that he belongs to the light and does the works of darkness, he has no defense to offer, nor can he lift his face to look upon the Son of God, who is me. For I will say to him: As you sought, so you have found, and as you asked, so you have received. Why do you condemn me, O man? Why have you departed from me and denied me? Why have you confessed me and yet denied me? Does not everyone have power to live and to die?’ Whoever has kept my commandments shall be a child of the light, that is, of the Father who is in me. But because of those who corrupt my words, I have come down from heaven. I am the Word. I became flesh, suffered, and taught, saying, ‘The heavily burdened shall be saved, and those who have gone astray shall go astray forever.’ They shall be chastised and tormented in flesh and soul.”
