Section 40

1We said to him, “O Lord, truly we are sorrowful for their sake.” He said to us, “You do rightly, for the righteous are sorrowful for sinners and pray for them, offering prayer to my Father.” Again we said to him, “Lord, is there no one who intercedes with you?” He said to us, “Yes, and I will hear the prayer that the righteous offer for them.” When he had said this to us, we said to him, “Lord, in everything you have taught us, shown mercy to us, and saved us so that we might preach to those who are worthy to be saved and receive a reward with you.”
